Obituary

William Charles Swan, age 97, of Dexter, Maine, passed away on October 19, 2024. Born to Donald and

Louise Swan, he was the eldest of five children and a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

William was married to two wonderful women whom he loved dearly; Helen Wing Swan for 35 years and

Dale Fusco Swan for 29 years. He is survived by his six children; Timothy Swan, Glen Swan, Susan Hodge,

Doris Pittman, Helene Powell, and Pauline Harris. He was also preceded in death by two of his children,

Shelley Frisella and William Charles Swan, Jr. William took great pride in his 19 grandchildren and 25

great-grandchildren, cherishing the joy they brought into his life.

A proud veteran, William served in three branches of the military, with a particular honor for his time

with the 11th Airborne Division. He was actively involved in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter, participating in

reunions and events that celebrated the bonds formed during his service.

William's commitment to his community extended beyond the military; he was deeply involved in his

church and various support groups, always ready to lend an ear and offer guidance to those in need. His

ability to connect with others brought him immense happiness and he cherished the time spent with

family and friends.

William will be laid to rest next to his wives and one of his children at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter,

Maine. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and compassion that will forever be remembered by

all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local veterans' organization or

support group in William's honor.
