Obituary

The beer industry took a major hit July 29, 2023, as William T. Richardson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

William was more affectionately known as Bill, Billy, Rich, Pop Pop, Quicky Rich, Dollar Bill , Pop and so many other names. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 14, 1940, to the late Charles E. Richardson and Anna M. Richardson.

Bill was the youngest of three children with a brother, Charles Richardson and sister, Ree Palmer. They grew up in the small town of Avalon, NJ. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the Air Force. He met his wife, Patricia Smith and they were married in 1967 until her heavenly visit in 1979. Together they had three children, Tina, Kevin and Jimmy. Bill later married Carole Reynolds "twice" whom he loved and cared for until her passing in November 2011.

Bill served in the military for 21 years. He heroically and proudly defended the U.S. during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Thule, Greenland for a brief battle with the cold. He then moved to California until he settled down in Delaware where he retired. Soon after he retired from his military career, he dedicated 21 more years with the civil service. Those who had the opportunity to know him were drawn to his charismatic, ornery, straight-talking wit. Bill loved hard, played hard, lived harder and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed water sports and anything that included his family and friends. He also enjoyed dirt racing. Bill's most cherished memories were watching his children and grandchildren succeed in their dreams. Whether it be career, hobbies, or sports, he was always standing on the sideline with beer in hand and a loud cheer. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Marie Wills (Don) of Felton, DE; son, Kevin Richardson of Magnolia, DE; step-daughter, Sheri Booth of Seaford, DE and step-son, Jimbob Cochran of Magnolia, DE.

Grandchildren, Jimmy Wills (Sam) of Felton, DE, Kevin Richardson of Honolulu, HI, Michael Wills (Mackenzie) of Felton, DE, Patrick Wills (Hannah) of Felton, DE, and Brandon Grasso of Maryland.

Great grandchildren, Aiva Richardson, Kinsley Wills, Hazel Wills, Nevaeh Cochran.

Visitation will be held on August 12, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church, 4904 S. Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE, 19901. Services and Military Honor Ceremony to follow at 12:00 PM.
