Wallace Spivey Daughtry, 82, of Lasker passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

He was born in Northampton County to the late John Leonard Daughtry, Sr. and Mary Spivey Daughtry. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, D.J. Daughtry and five brothers, Leonard Eugene Daughtry, James Calvin Daughtry, William Edward Daughtry, Thomas Alvin Daughtry, Sr., and Charles Maness Daughtry, Sr.

Wallace was born and raised in Lasker and retired from the Department of Corrections after 25 years. His siblings called him "Bug" his entire life; others knew him as the "Woodman". He loved gardening, fishing, cutting trees down, splitting wood, and using a chain saw was second nature for him. He loved sitting under his maple tree, swinging in his swing and he enjoyed helping others.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Gourley Daughtry; his daughter, Tina Daughtry Whitmire and her husband, Jim of Roanoke Rapids; his son, David Wallace Daughtry and his wife, Cassie Mae of Lasker; his grandchildren, Amanda Diane Dunlow, Sean Michael Dowling, Tyler Mathew Dowling, Lilliahna Grace Daughtry, James Tyler Whitmire, William Hunter Whitmire, and Erica Elizabeth Whitmire; two great grandchildren, J. D. Dunlow and Kollin Dunlow; his sisters, Virginia Daughtry Smith, Lucy Daughtry Browder, Mary Daughtry Bridgers; and his brother, Rodney Bennett Daughtry; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Potecasi Baptist Church with Robbie Collier and Rev. Lloyd Jones officiating.

Flowers may be sent to the family home in Lasker.
