Virginia "Ginny" Butler Watkins, 76, of Roanoke Rapids passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

She was a native of Halifax County and was the daughter of the late Samuel Roland Butler, Sr. and Cornelia Smith Butler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Stradley Watkins, III.

Ginny was a 1967 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and also a graduate of Campbell College. She retired as a teacher with the Halifax County School System in 2002 and was a longtime active member of Roanoke Baptist Church where she served in the music ministry as choir director.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Watkins Wynne and her husband, Kirk of Roanoke Rapids and her son, Andrew Watkins and his fiancé', Juzl Garcia of Raleigh; her grandchildren, Jake Samuel Wynne, Abby Grace Wynne, Luke Jesse Wynne, and Julia Belle Watkins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at First Christian Church with Jake Wynne and Dr. Bane Angles officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.
