Sylvia Sykes Williams, 44 of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. She was born in Nash County, North Carolina on May 2, 1977 and was preceded in death by her twin boys, Christopher Michael and Jonathan Matthew Williams, Maternal Grandparents, Anna Price Sykes and Leroy Clifton Sykes; Paternal Grandparents, Robert Earl Pittman and Erna (Ann) Pittman. Sylvia grew up in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and moved around different places; spending the latter years of her life in Darlington, North Carolina. Even though they were divorced, Chris Williams, was a vital part of her life for more than 25 years; as were his parents Edith and the late Marvin Williams, his brothers Jimmy, Paul and Billy Williams and numerous extended Rose and Williams' family members who've touched her life. She graduated from Roanoke Rapids High School in 1995. She was very active in the color guard for the Roanoke Rapids High School Marching Band. She later attended East Carolina University. Her greatest joy was being a stay-at-home mother to her beautiful children and her cats. She took great pride in raising her boys. For the most part, they were raised living a country lifestyle and enjoyed outdoor activities. They spent many summers at Outdoor World. Her children gave her a purpose in life and her world revolved around them. Even as they became young adults, she was their source of comfort. She had an infectious laugh that could be heard down the hall and her smile would light up the room. She was free spirited, had a generous heart and was such a loving person. Family was everything to her. Her house was the house where all the kids wanted to hang out. When her house was full so was her heart. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Christopher Logan Williams and Joshua Dillon Williams; step-daughter, Melinda Jones; mother, Patricia Whalen and step-father Donnie Whalen; father, William (Tom) Pittman; siblings, Laura Spatorico (Mike), William (Tommy) Pittman Jr, Samantha Pittman; neices Abigail Cox, Madalyn Spatorico and 1 nephew, Garrett Spatorico; aunt, Alice Williams (Mike), uncle, Leroy (Sam) Sykes Sr (Suzanne), aunt Patricia Morris (Al) and aunt Sheila Britton (Tommy). Also left to cherish her memory includes countless cousins, extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until 4:30 P.M. at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services 731 Roanoke Ave. Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina 27870. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at East Tenth Street Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina with Rev. Randy Martin and Jason Yeatts officiating. Following the services, a lunch will be provided in the fellowship hall of the church.
