Stephen Eugene Finch,49, devoted son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend, passed away on September 1, 2021, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.
Stephen was born October 26, 1971 in Washington DC but spent most of his life in Northern Virginia creating lasting friendships and memories. During the past five years he lived in Virginia Beach where he enjoyed being by the water and spending time with two of his godchildren.
Stephen graduated from Oakton High School and went on to attend North Carolina State University where he played collegiate tennis. He received a degree in business management there before starting his journey into his many business ventures.
Most important to Stephen was his family and friends. He had a very close relationship with his parents, sister, nephews, and godchildren. He is survived by his parents, Gene and Jan Finch; his sister Lisa O'Loughlin, his nephews Scott and Shawn Michanco and his godchildren Kendall Tennant, and Tyler and Camryn Becka.
Steve had a love for sports – playing, coaching, and watching. He played varsity tennis in high school and grew up playing tennis throughout the country at many national tournaments. He was a big "Wolf Pack" fan and played singles and doubles on the NC State University team. Later in life he continued his love for tennis and coached the Battlefield High School boys' tennis team.
Steve could also be found enjoying fishing and hunting at Lake Gaston with his dad. Recently he discovered a new hobby – magnet fishing. Steve developed so many lifelong friendships and touched many people with his kind heart and caring spirit.
A memorial service will be held at 1 o'clock, on Saturday September 18, 2021 at Lakeside Lutheran Church, 2427 Eaton Ferry Road, Littleton NC.
