Shelton James Jones, 79 of Woodland, North Carolina passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. He was born in 1942 to the late Ellis "Gabe" Jones and Leona Morris Jones in Bertie County and was preceded in death by his son, Ray Jones and his brother, Jimmy Ray Jones. Shelton loved to work on tractors, lawnmowers, vehicles and loved to fish, to tell old stories and loved to farm. He is survived by his wife, Marie M. Jones; his daughter Deborah Jones Jenkins and her husband, Teddy of Woodland, North Carolina; his son David Earl Jones and his fiancé, Jammie Peirce of Seaboard, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Brian Jenkins and his wife, Rebecca, Brandon Jones and Ashley McDevitt, Joshua Jones, Melissa Jenkins, David Allen Jones and Quintin Earl Jones, Chris Collier and Stephanie Collier; his eight great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Angie J. Joyner of Lasker, and Yvonne J. Collier and her husband, Perry Lee Collier of Woodland, North Carolina. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11am at the Light House of Hope Church in Woodland with Rev. Brian Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:30 until 8pm at Askew Funeral Services in Jackson, North Carolina.
