Obituary

Sandra Shearin Robinson, November 7, 1942-October 10, 2026

Sandra Shearin Robinson, 83, a lifelong resident of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on November 7, 1942, Sandra grew up in Roanoke Rapids, the community she would always call home. She married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Rip” Robinson, and together they built a beautiful life filled with family, love, and cherished memories.

Sandra had a wonderful gift for making ordinary moments extraordinary. She loved decorating, entertaining, cooking, shopping, and spending time at the beach. She delighted in creating beautiful surroundings, welcoming friends and family into her home, and making every celebration feel special. Whether hosting a party, preparing a family meal, or decorating for the holidays, Sandra put her heart into everything she did.

But of all the things Sandra loved in this world, nothing brought her greater happiness than her family, especially her grandchildren. To them, she was simply GG, a name spoken with love and one that brought her immeasurable joy. GG had a special way of making childhood magical. Holidays at her home were filled with beautiful decorations, cherished traditions, delicious food, and an abundance of love. Perhaps her most treasured tradition was gathering her grandchildren around her every Christmas Eve to read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Beginning with her first grandchild, she continued this beloved tradition year after year, creating memories that will live in their hearts forever.

She understood that the greatest gifts we give our families are not things, but moments - the traditions we create, the laughter we share, and the love that makes a house a home.

Sandra is survived by her beloved husband, Charles S. Robinson; her three children, Lori Medlin, Lisa (Billy) Allen, and Charles "Chuck" Robinson, Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, Mira Medlin, Garison Medlin, Emily Robinson, Charles “Jack” Quinn, and Miles Bell; her step grandchildren, Wright Medlin (Georgia) and Magen (Tommy) Guess; and her great-grandchildren, Garrett and Gracelyn; step great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Natalie. She is also survived by her loving and devoted sister, Bobbie (Bear) Crawley and brother Frank Shearin. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Baggett.

Sandra's legacy is not simply in the years she lived, but in the love she gave, the beauty she created, and the memories she made for those fortunate enough to be part of her life. Her family will forever remember her welcoming home, her wonderful celebrations, her love of all things beautiful, and most of all, the way she made each of them feel special.

Though her family will miss her beyond measure, the traditions she created and the love she shared will continue for generations to come. Every Christmas Eve, when the words of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas are read once again, GG's love will be there, just as it always has been.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Minister Jason Yeatts officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home
