Ruth Buffaloe Dean, 95, of Jackson, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at ECU North Hospital.

She was born in Northampton County on August 8, 1928 as the daughter of the late William Merritt Buffaloe and Ruth Davis Buffaloe and preceded in death by her husband, John William Dean, Jr. and her son John William Dean, III.

Ruth was born and raised in Jackson, North Carolina and lived in eastern Massachusetts for many years in the late 1980's until she returned to her native Jackson. She was a lifelong member of Jackson Baptist Church and worked for the Town of Jackson for twenty-five years.

Ruth is survived by her son, Stephen Dean and his wife, Deborah of Cary, North Carolina; her three grandchildren, Hunter Dean, Hannah Dean and Alex Dean; and her sister-in-law, Eva Dean of Fort Mills, South Carolina.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Jackson Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Godwin officiating.
