Obituary

Ruby Page Duke Futrell, 96, from Jackson passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

She was a native of Northampton County and was the daughter of the late Willie James Duke and Minnie Futrell Duke. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Horace Lassiter and W.T. "Billy" Futrell; sisters, Mattie Mae Smith, Beulah Smith, Audrey Bryant Hargrove, Hazel Hobbs; brothers, J.R. Duke, Wilson Duke, Raymond Duke; and her grandson, Tyre Leseney. 

Ruby was a graduate of Jackson High School.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Leseney and her husband, Roger of Ahoskie; three         grandchildren, Timothy Bellanca and his wife, Elisa of Germany, Hope Bellanca of Ocala, Florida and William Bellanca of Orlando, Florida; four great grandchildren, Kristopher Altmannsberger, Faith Bellanca, Sophia Bellanca and Michael Bellanca; her brothers-in-law, Roger Futrell of Rich Square, Bernie Futrell and his wife, Kay of Rich Square, sister-in-law, Peggy Futrell of Raleigh; several nieces and nephews; and her loving church family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Rehoboth Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Crowder and Rev. Wesley Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the chapel of Askew Funeral Services-Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rehoboth Methodist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by locally owned and operated Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Jackson.
