Rodney Scott Shotwell, 60, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. He was born on April 17, 1963 in Halifax County to the late Rev. Walter Earl Shotwell and Constance Whitt Shotwell.

Rodney was known as "Shot" by his friends, was a man of many talents and he was known as an easy-going person who battled cancer for years, but always pulled through. "Shot" was a butcher for years and shared his love of his favorite music, movies, sports, puzzles and cooking of his famous dishes.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Anissa Jo Shotwell; his daughter, Sara Shotwell Chandler and husband, Jason of Roanoke Rapids; his grandchildren, Colton Grey Shotwell and Cassidy Diana Strickland of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Walter Shotwell and wife, Janice of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Sharon Robinson of Yuma, AZ; step-children, Crystal L Benton of Manassas, VA, Steven M.R. Benton, and step-grandson, Jayden R. Benton all of Norfolk, VA, along with his two dogs. He will be missed by many more who knew him to be just as special.

The family will celebrate the life and memory of Rodney at a later date.
