Obituary

Robert Franklin Whiteoak Sr. (Whitey), passed away May 6th 2024 after a short illness. In the still of the night, with his wife and eldest son at his side, the angels gathered and lifted him to heaven for his eternal life with our Lord.

Whitey was born January 28, 1938, in Chesapeake City MD. He resided in Maryland until 2008 when he and his wife moved to Jackson N.C. Whitey was married to the love of his life, Susan Ellen Ewell Whiteoak for 50 years. They loved boating, crabbing, fishing and just relaxing on the water and enjoying retirement together. After 47 years of employment with Delmarva Power and Light (Conective), he retired but was brought back as a consultant for two more years. Whitey is loved and remembered for his love of life and family, his contagious and great sense of humor. When he entered the room, you knew a joke or some kind of prank was coming. Whitey enjoyed spending time in his work shop, keeping his lawn in tip-top shape, and enjoying the fresh smell of newly mowed grass, and the Baltimore Orioles!

Whitey is survived by his wife Susan, his eldest son Robert Jr., (Karen), Kenny (Maria), step daughter, Jeanne Smith (Ernie). Two grandsons Cody Whiteoak (Samantha) children: Connor and Taylor, and step grandson Timmothy Hayden, four granddaughters: Trish Eyerly (Kenneth), children: Sasha and Jack. Ashley Jones (Matt) children: Luke, Chloe, Thomas, and Jackson. Emily Adams (Matt) children: Peyton and Emmitt. Step granddaughter Shelly Hayden (Corey Rinker) children: Stella and Oliver David Rinker, and many nieces and nephews. Whitey was preceded in death by his parents, Cynthia Elizabeth, and James F. Whiteoak, his sister, Jenny Lee Jones, his son Kevin Whiteoak and step son David Troutman 3rd.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at a later date. It will be posted on Facebook of: Jeanne Troutman Smith.
