Rita Harris McCollum passed away peacefully at home on January 25, surrounded by love.

Rita was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Woodrow and Willie Harris; her devoted husband, Edward Murray McCollum; her sister, Shelia Gibson; her brother-in-law, Kenny Gibson; and her sister, Mary Thompson.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rita Harris Allen and Maurice Ashton Harris Jr. (Reese). She leaves behind her cherished grandsons, Dylan Allen and wife Connor, and Marcus Allen and wife Meghan. As well as her treasured great-grandchildren, great-grandson James Allen and great-granddaughter Miller Allen, who brought her endless joy.

Rita is also survived by her brother, Russel Harris, her sister-in-law, Faith McCollum, and one very special, loving nephew, Rodney Ashby, along with several nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close.

Rita’s life was marked by love, strength, and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family will hold a celebration of life on February 7th. Instead of flowers, please just pray for peace and comfort for her family.
