Obituary

Pauline Driver Olmstead, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt, went to meet her Lord on February, 16th, 2022 at 92 years old. She was born in Brink, Virginia to the late John Morgan And Essie Mae(Hobbs) Driver. Raised in Brink(VA), she also resided in Roanoke Rapids, Tampa(FL), and Rocky Mount. Growing up working on her family farm, Pauline frequently enjoyed being outside gardening, often receiving recognition for having the best kept yard. She also enjoyed cooking and shared her passion both at home and professionally, starting off as a waitress to eventually owning and operating multiple restaurants with her husband Beeman, including the Fairfax Diner in Roanoke Rapids. Best known for her love of family, Pauline was a wonderful, unselfish, and unwavering matriarch. She was always at her happiest providing love and support to her large family, often forgetting her role in raising three generations, but never forgetting to make sure everyone was taken care of. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Beeman Frederick Olmstead, her children Susan and Dwight Durance, grandchildren Michelle Gums and Paula Laney and siblings Edward, Gilbert, Clifton, Rose, Cooper, Mary Essie, Cecil, Willis, Morris Conway (MC)and Evelyn. She is survived by her children, Deborah Tuck Korff of Rocky Mount, James (Cindy) Tuck and Dennis Durance of Roanoke Rapids. Grandchildren Brenda(Dante) Borre, Evelyn (George) Smiley, Matthew (Amanda) Korff, Mehgan ( Chris) McKeithan, Brandon Durance, Sharon Jenkins, Laura Jean (Chris) Gums, Chris (Emily) Stacy, Steven Adams. Twenty four Great grandchildren including Dalton Smiley, Dexter Durance, Remington Korff, Grey and Holly McKeithan, and sister Gertrude Averette. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 21 at 2 pm with visitation at 1 pm at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services 731 Roanoke Ave. Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
