Oliver "Chris" Laird Bowser, Jr. 86 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021. He was born in Butler County Pennsylvania in 1935 to the late, Oliver L. Bowser, Sr. and Ruth Alshouse Bowser and was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Jean Ricks in 2006. Oliver served his country proudly in the United States Marines as a Gunnery Sergeant and served during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie "Sally" Bowser; his daughters, Susan Parker and her husband, Donald of Hampstead, North Carolina, Rebecca Overcash of Hampstead, North Carolina, Teresa Howell and her husband, Kevin of Holly Ridge, North Carolina; his step-children John A. Brown, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Newsoms, Virginia and Joni B. Hale of Conway, North Carolina; his eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11am at Crestview Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Richard Thomason officiating.
