Nelda Spivey Martin Slade, 93, of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Bernard Spivey and Lottie Futrell Spivey. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Baxter "Tenny" Martin and Charles Slade, sisters, Constance Wiatt, Margie Benson and her brother, Bill Spivey.

Nelda was retired from the Department of Social Services and was a very active life-long member of Jackson Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a youth leader and a member of the choir.

Nelda is survived by her three sons, Arthur B. Martin, Jr. of Hampton, Virginia, Lloyd "Marty" Martin and his wife, Deborah and William Edward "Ed" Martin and his wife, Margie, both of Jackson; her sister, June S. Parker and her husband, John of Greensboro; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Jackson Community Church in Jackson with Rev. Sam Grist officiating.

Interment will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:30 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Askew Funeral and Cremation services, Jackson-Chapel in Jackson, NC.
