Mary Miller Powers May, 83, of Raleigh, died Friday, June 17, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Frank Poydras Powers and Rebecca Johnson Powers of Raleigh, NC. She was married to Albert Franklin May on July 20, 1963. They shared 37 years together before his passing in 2000. Mary Miller was a graduate of Peace High School and graduated Peace College in 1958. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She served as a volunteer with well over 4,000 hours logged serving the Raleigh community with most of those at Rex Hospital. Mary Miller leaves behind a large and loving family and many friends including sons Albert Franklin May, Jr. and his wife Ashley, Frank Powers May and his wife Sarah, and daughter Mary Miller May Wheeler and her husband Scott. She leaves behind loving grandchildren, Martha Grace May, Camille Doughton May, Hylan Scott Wheeler and step-granddaughter, Lily Simone Zimiles; brother Frank Poydras Powers, Jr. and his wife Nancy. She is predeceased by her sister Rebecca Powers Hines and husband Ken. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 with a reception following at First Baptist Church, 99 N Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
