Mary Frances Spence Edwards 90, of Roanoke Rapids died Friday November 26, 2021 with her daughter by her side. She was a native of Southampton County Virginia and was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Lucy Conwell Spence. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Wallace Grizzard Edwards, her daughter, Connie Edwards Bryant, sons Wallace Wayne Edwards and Ray Edwards and a grandson, Jamie Bryant. Mary was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was the bus monitor for her husband as they transported special children, that they dearly loved, for the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Butler and her husband, Frankie of Roanoke Rapids; daughter-in-law, Kim Edwards of Roanoke Rapids; son-in-law, Steve Bryant of Roanoke Rapids; two sisters, Allene Edwards of Capron, Virginia and Mildred Williams of Triplet, Virginia; brother, Lloyd Spence of Richmond, Virginia; four grandchildren, twelve great grand children and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Monday November 29, 2021, 2 pm at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Kobernat officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-4:30 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
