Hale
May 28, 1952 – August 27, 2025
Marilyn King Hale, age 73, passed away on August 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Montgomery County, PA to the late Albert and Vera Haff King and was also predeceased by her sister in law, Brenda King, special cousin, Camille Hubbard and her daughter-in-law, Angela Hale.
Marilyn was a graduate of Littleton High School and continued her education at Halifax Community College and Peace College, earning her degree as a Registered Nurse. She began her career working for Dr. Forbes in Roanoke Rapids until his retirement and spent the next 18 years working for Halifax County Mental Health Center/RiverStone Counseling. The remainder of her career until her retirement was spent working for Vidant North (now ECU Health) in Roanoke Rapids in the Emergency Department- Woodside Unit serving individuals experiencing crisis situations in mental health.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Enterprise Baptist Church in Littleton. Marilyn loved to travel, was a great baker of desserts, loved cooking spaghetti (and especially eating spaghetti), was the "world's largest Coca Cola fan" (all things Coca Cola), and shared traditions with her family by going all out to decorate for Christmas and other holidays.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 50 years, Howard O. Hale, Jr.; her son, Howard O. Hale, III (Jennifer); her grandsons, Nick Hale (Katie) of Littleton and Tyler Hale (Anna) of Roanoke Rapids; grandaughters, Kylie Burnette and Avery Pardue; great-grandson, Carlyle Hale; her brother, Charles King (Judy) of Goldsboro; niece, Jennifer King of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Jeanette Hale; brothers-in-law, John Hale and Walt Hale; best friend and caregiver, Sue Hubert; special friend, Gwen Jones; and her special fur baby, Sully.
A visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Askew Funeral and Creamation Services, Roanoke Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services followed by a burial at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Littleton, NC officiated by Rev. Jimmy King.
