Maria Elena LaBoy of Roanoke Rapids, NC departed this life on Friday, July 28, 2023 at her residence.

Elena was born July 10, 1977 to Margarita Melendez. Elena is survived by her husband, Jose Mani LaBoy; three children, Jonathan Valentin and wife Jeanivette, Yasmine Valentin, and Wilson Valentin, Jr.; one grandson, Jaidyn; her mother, Margarita Melendez; four brothers, Pastor Alfredo Freytes, Pedro Luis Melendez, Jose Nieves, and Jorge; her sister, Milva Rivera; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Elena was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she had an enormous heart, and a wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, loyal, and brave.

Elena was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, niece and friend. She loved her family deeply. She always had a smile on her face. She would give anyone the shirt off her back. Elena possessed the strength to overcome the challenges of life. Elena and her husband, Mani, worked hard to have a new beginning, and chose North Carolina as home. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
