Linda Janell Huntington Obituary

An Angel whispered, "Take my hand and come with me to a place where there's no pain or sorrow and there will always be a

tomorrow. It breaks our heart to lose you and you do not go alone, for part of us went with you when God called you home. You leave us your memories and stories to be our guide; and therefore, we will always keep you by our side."

Linda Janell (Peterson) Huntington passed away on July 1, 2024, following a lengthy illness with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Clay, wonderful daughter, Amy and two loving grandsons, Andrew and Charlie. Also surviving is her brother, Don Peterson, his wife, Gloria and their family. She was also blessed with many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Linda was born in 1948 and spent her early childhood on a Kansas farm owned by her dad and mom, Kenny & Alice Peterson. Later the family moved to Mulvane, KS where the family opened an appliance store. She graduated from Mulvane High and attended Kansas State University. Later she moved to Dallas, TX where she met Clay. They were married six months later on April 7, 1973. Then came the nomadic lifestyle of military assignments throughout the US. She enjoyed each location, enjoying new friends at every stop. In Alaska she worked as an assistant to a dermatologist and also made several appearances on the local Food Channel. More importantly, she gave birth to her daughter, Amy. In California she was employed as a dental assistant. In Georgia she attended Columbus State University and graduated with a degree as a dental hygienist. The family's last military assignment was Northern Virginia where the family lived for 30 years and there she served as a dental hygienist for 28 years. She also organized many events promoting culinary arts including gourmet dinner groups.

In 2015, she and Clay had a dream come true. They retired and moved to their dream house on Lake Gaston NC. They also joined Lakeside Lutheran Church near their home. Linda was active in church activities, including several committees. She also designed and developed the Card Ministry, which produced many special cards for the church and the Lake Gaston Ladies Club.

She rejoiced in having so many loving friends and family that gave her much joy throughout her life. She truly loved and respected each of them. Most significantly, she worshiped, protected and loved beyond boundary her daughter, Amy and grandsons, Andrew and Charlie.
