Leon Carlton Burgess, 88, of Conway, North Carolina passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024.

He was born in Northampton County on November 29, 1935 to the late Clifton Burgess and Bernice Dunn Burgess and was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Hobbs Burgess; his brothers, James Wilson Burgess, Billy Burgess, and Earl Preston Burgess and his sister, Mary Louise Burgess.

Leon was a graduate of Conway High School and a longtime member of Potecasi Baptist Church.

He survived by his sons, Carl Burgess and Charles Burgess; his daughter-in-law, Rachel Burgess; his three grandchildren, Bruce Burgess, Stanley Burgess and Stephen Burgess; his siblings, Lynn Burgess and Troy Burgess and his wife Rita Burgess and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Potecasi Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Browder officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until service time.
