Katherine “Kathy” Lynne Vick, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2026 at her home in Conway, NC.

Kathy was born on April 9, 1962 to Tom Vick and Dorothy “Dot” Eatmon Vick. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brother-in-law, David Smith, and her special cousin, Ricky Vick.

Kathy was born in Hertford County, but lived most of her life in Conway. She was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt, as well as a treasured neighbor, co-worker, and friend. Kathy attended Appalachian State University before graduating from East Carolina University in 1985 with a BSN degree. She spent her entire 30+ year nursing career working as a Registered Nurse, first as a NICU nurse, and later as a staff nurse, lovingly caring for the smallest patients, babies and children who were sick and hospitalized, as well as those who needed wellness care. She held many nursing positions over the years at ECU Health Medical Center, formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital, UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and Rocky Mount, Northampton County Health Department, and Halifax-Warren Smart Start. She also spent several years working as a travel nurse, where she enjoyed visiting new places and meeting new people, before returning home to help care for her uncle and father prior to their deaths.

She was a longtime member of Conway Methodist Church where she enjoyed leading craft classes and working in Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, crafts, and spending time with her family, her dog, Ben, and her cats.

She is survived by her two sisters, Patsy Vick Lepak and husband, Jerry of Rocky Mount and Tommie Anne Vick Hall and husband, Raymond of Fayetteville; one nephew, David Thomas Smith, one niece, Reagan Hall; as well as many aunts, cousins, and cherished friends.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Askew Funeral Home in Jackson, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Conway Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Hill presiding. Burial will follow in the Town of Woodland Cemetery.
