Joyce Harrell Burnette, 74, peacefully passed away to go home to heaven with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday morning, March 19, 2025.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, J. C. (James Criss) Harrell and Ruth T. Harrell and brothers, James Ray Harrell and Steven Criss Harrell.

Joyce was a long-time resident of the Lake Gaston area, most recently, Henrico, NC. She was a devoted wife, mom and friend. Joyce was a member of Lake Gaston Baptist Church, holding many ministry positions including, Sunday School teacher, choir member, kitchen committee, Operation Christmas Child volunteer and any other ministry opportunities that she was asked to participate.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Steve Burnette; son, Joshua Burnette and his wife, Layla and grandson, Cohen of Zebulon, NC; her sister, Betty Wall and her husband, Gene of Franklin, VA; her special niece, Tracy Wall of Raleigh; her nephew, Barry Wall of Raleigh; brother-in-law, Craig Burnette of Clearwater, FL; aunt, Lib Thornell of Emerald Isle, NC and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held on April 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Lake Gaston Baptist Church, 128 Lynwood Drive, Littleton, NC, 27850.

The family would like to thank Liberty Home Hospice for their support and loving care for Joyce, especially Brittney and Rebecca who were loving caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Lake Gaston Baptist Church for Operation Christmas Child in memory of Joyce.
