Joseph Bennett Hobbs 56, of Gaston died Saturday February 6, 2021 in Richmond, Va. Bennett a native of Halifax County was the Son of the late Joseph "Joe" Hobbs. He was a graduate of Roanoke Christian school and NC Wesleyan College where he graduated with honors. Bennett was a life-long business man in Northampton and Halifax Counties. He is survived by his Mother, Nancy Cook and his step-father, Phillip of Gaston; his sister, Joan H. Long and her husband, Ricky of Roanoke Rapids; his nieces and nephews, Cortney Hammack and her husband, Jeremy, Lee Powers, Brent Powers and his wife, Whitney, Alyssa Dennis and her husband, Preston, Kalyn Long and Colin Long; his great nieces and nephews, Karlee Hammack, Sophia White, Braxton Hammack, Conner Hammack, Brylee Turner and Weston Powers. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday February 10, 2021 at 2 pm at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids. Social distancing and mask are required to attend the visitation and the Services.
