Johnny Allen Laughinghouse, 67 of Rocky Mount, North Carolina passed away on October 13th, 2022, at his family home in Rocky Mount. Johnny was born May 11th, 1955, in New Bern, North Carolina. Born into a large family of fifteen, Johnny was the baby of all his brothers and sisters, working on the family farm until adulthood.

Johnny was naturally good at running heavy equipment, to no surprise he began a career as a tractor trailer operator, driving tractor trailers across the country. Johnny's days on the road allowed him to see nearly every state in our country. When it came time to ask for directions, Johnny always seemed to know the route for every backroad and highway. After many years on the road, Johnny transitioned to CSX as a railroad conductor for many years. He medically retired from this career and enjoyed helping family and friends by running heavy machinery when a helping hand was in need for various jobs.

Johnny was married for 26 years to Candice Merrifield Laughinghouse, which whom they welcomed two girls, who he loved dearly. Johnny is survived by his daughters, Emily (Blake) Laughinghouse Whichard of Rocky Mount, Kayla (Michael) Laughinghouse Grubbs of Asheville, NC, and his granddaughter Zoey Whichard, and pet companion Riley aka "Toot".

Johnny is survived by his brothers and sisters, Peggy Anderson of Ernul, NC, Betty Littlewood of New Bern, Donald Laughinghouse of South Carolina, Nancy Hack of New Bern, Judy Laughinghouse of New Bern, and Joseph (Helen) Laughinghouse of Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Lula Laughinghouse, sister Ethel "Ann", and his brothers, Carlos, Lester, Edward, Richard, Robert, William, and Rudolph Laughinghouse.

There will be a private celebration of life following a cremation service with family and close friends. The family will receive friends at 6656 Sonnys Lane, Rocky Mount, NC.
