Janie Dickens Riddle passed away on February 3, 2024. She was born in Halifax County in 1922 and was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Iola Dickens, her husband, John W. Riddle, Jr, her sister and best friend, Ailene Hawkins.
She is survived by her children, Lyn Cochrane of Raleigh (Dan), Dee Copeland of Weldon (Lee), and Johnny Riddle of Enfield (Vickie); grandchildren, Barbara Neufeld (Jeff), Chad Schutte, Wes Riddle (Mariel), Josh Kane (Kat), Renee Cochrane Yongue, and Michele Cochrane; great-grandchildren, Harrison Yongue, Hampton Yongue, Chloe Schutte, Hayden and Logan Riddle, Ivy, Charlie and Lainie Neufelds.
Janie was a member of Weldon United Methodist Church and sang in the choir until it closed. She was also a member of the Weldon Garden Club, an active member of the Roanoke Rapids Senior Citizens Club and volunteered at the Roanoke Rapids Chamber of Commerce until her eyesight made it too challenging. Called "Muzzy" or "Miss Janie", she was loved by all.
The family would like to wish a special thank you to Fairview Rural Fire Department and EMS; Transitions Life Care, Raleigh; Rex Hospital, Raleigh; and Dr. Isaac Miller of Rural Health in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Sue Owens officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.
