Obituary

Jim was a graduate of the The Manlius School in 1949. He proudly served in the US Army Reserve Military Police Corp from 1949 until he was honorably discharged on December 18, 1959. Later on Jim was a Sales Executive for 3M Corporation for 35 years and was "Salesman of the Year" many times. He was very active at St. Luke's Greek Orthodox Church in Broomall, PA as the Board President. Always a leader, Jim was an Assistant Scout Master Troop 122, in Broomall, PA and received the Vigil Honor. Commitment to service lead his involvement in Lion Club International as a Member, Club President, and ultimately District Governor in Lake Gaston, NC. He was also remembered for his activity in Habitat for Humanity in Lake Gaston area. When Jim was not serving his community, he and Kally Shuart could be found traveling the world to places that include, Greece, China, Australia, Africa, Russia, Bahamas, Bermuda, Hawaii, Germany, France, Egypt, and Alaska. Jim is survived by his four sons, Mark Shuart and wife Jane, Kent Shuart and wife, Paula, Todd Shuart and wife, Lori, and Glen Shuart and wife Theresa; grandchildren, Amy Gingrinch, Emily Glasscock, Samuel Callisto, Jessica Drake, Kristofer Shuart, Nicholas Shuart, Elana Stauch, and Joel Shuart; and great-granchildren, Hazel Rose Callisto, Tyler Drake, Caroline Drake, Hailey Shuart, Elizabeth James Shuart, AJ Stauch, Rosemary Stauch, and Mina Belle Stauch. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Kalleope Antonios Philosophos Shuart; and brothers, John F. Shuart and Jerome E. Shuart. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11am at Lakeside Lutheran Church Cemetery in Littleton, NC with Rev. Scott Benson officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services 731 Roanoke Ave. Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
