James Walter Sawyer, Jr., 84, of Conway, NC passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023.

He was born on November 9, 1938 to the late, James Walter Sawyer, Sr. and Ethel Mae Smith. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Talmage and Virgie Sawyer; his brothers Robert Sawyer, Jack Sawyer, and Thomas Sawyer.

James was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church. He loved photography, traveling, working in his shop and ice cream.

James is survived by his wife, of sixty-four years, Barbara Jean Sawyer; his sons, Ricky Sawyer (Patricia) of Drewville, VA and Jeffery Lynn Sawyer (Fannie) of Milwakee, NC; his sister, Alice Pierce of Fl; his grandchildren, Brandi Wright (Benny), Hunter Shelton, Ryan Shelton, Chloe Sawyer, Tiffany Dalzell (Brendan), Kimberly Buckner (Ben), and Eric Sawyer (Bridgette); his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Savanna Wright, Senae McNeil, Aleigha & Jacob Dalzell, Caleb Ivey, Krislyn Velvin, Bryson, Garhett, and Charlie Buckner, Brooklynn & Kohlton Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Potecasi Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Browder and Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating.

Interment will be held in the Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins, VA after the service.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
