James Louis (Bud) Key Sr. 88 of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina passed away on January 30, 2022 at Vidant North Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1933 to the late, James Ervin and Sallie Ann Smith Key and was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Key Sawyer, Mary Key Carter, and Jean Key Rhodes. "Bud" was a graduate of Guilford College and served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Government. His greatest love was his Lord and his family; sports, sports and more sports. He was a member of the Portsmouth, VA Gridiron Club, Fort Eustis Baseball Team, American Legion, the Guilford College Alumni Quaker Club and was a Tidewater, VA Softball Hall of Famer. He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Priscilla Lee Key; his son, James Louis Key, Jr. and his wife Crystal Neal Key; his grandchildren, Jackson Key and his wife Olivia Key, Lt. Bailey Key and Canaan Key. A Private Burial be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give to your local church.
