Obituary

Helen Marie Leggett Bryant 96, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

She was a native of Roanoke Rapids and was the daughter of the late James Henry Leggett and Mary Lou Wobbleton Leggett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lee Bryant; a son, Charlie Lee Bryant, Jr.; a granddaughter, Stephanie Prince; and her siblings, James Cecil Leggett, Luealie (Pat) Gray, Viola Rideout, Willie Leggett, Hughbert Leggett, Hattie Bailey, Bertha Leggett, James Albert Leggett, Ruby Ivey, Ruth (Hazel) Smith and Alton Leggett.

Helen was retired from the medical field as an LPN after many years at the Roanoke Rapids Hospital and then Halifax Memorial Hospital. She was a founding member of Gaston First Baptist Church where she played the piano and led the choir for over 60 years.

She is survived by her children, Dawn B. Anderson (Larry), Wanda B. Clements, Raven B. Blythe (Gene), Charlene B. Elias (Arthur), Marcus Wade Bryant (Lynn) and Shanna B. Tant (James); 14 grandchildren, Gage Anderson (Bonnie), Todd Anderson, Chris Clements, Matthew Jones, Kayla Jones, Joy Jones (Marty), Blaire Bryant (Julliette), Brandon Bryant, Jordan Bryant (Meribeth), Reagan Tant Edwards (Jimmie), Raleigh Tant, Garrett Tant and Ryan Tant; fifteen great-grandchildren, Quinton Southard (Catlyn), Katlyn Anderson (Caleb), Ashton Anderson (Annabelle), Hayden Anderson (Lexie), Morgan Anderson, Colin Clements, Tyler Prince, Cameron Prince, Madison Prince, Carter Abram, Logan Abram, David J. Mikulskis, Jack Bryant, Levi Bryant and Evan Edwards; one great-great grandchild, Olivia Rose Southard.

The family will receive friends from 10:45 until 11:45 AM on Friday , April 4, 2025 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services followed by a graveside service at 12:00 noon at Cedarwood Cemetery (old section) in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.
