Hazel Jenkins Harrell, 90 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

She was born in Halifax County on March 3, 1933 to the late, Bernie Frazier Jenkins and Lillie Garner Jenkins Glasgow and was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Harrell Allen, her granddaughter, Christi Allen Hill, her sister, Mildred Jenkins Glover, and her step-father, Wilson McCoy Glasgow.

She was a 1951 graduate from Roanoke Rapids High School. She retired from North Carolina Power in 1992 with 29 years of service. She was a member of Smith Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids where she was a choir member and served as choir director for 35 years.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Jackie H. Smith and her husband, David of Concord, North Carolina; her son, James Allen Harrell, II and his wife, Sue of Williamston, North Carolina; Son-in-law, Danny Allen and his wife, June of Washington, North Carolina her grandchildren, Greg Allen, Karen Harrell, Randy Harrell, Dale Latkowski, Melissa Smith, and Michael Smith; her 13 grandchildren and her brother, Billy Jenkins and his wife Edith of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Smith Methodist Church with Rev. Stan Lewis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until service time on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Smith Methodist Church building fund, 1215 Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
