WELDON, NC

Gilbert Earl Wells, 76, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023.  He is the son of the late Clarence and Louise Wells and was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Wells, "Dinky" Wells, and a sister, Marie Conwell.

Gilbert worked for the NC Department of Transportation and retired with 31 years of service. He was a member of the Weldon Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years and was also a member of the Big Rack Hunting Club.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy S. Wells; son, Chris and wife, Keisha Wells of Littleton; sisters, Bernice Lewter and Penny Boyce, both of Roanoke Rapids, and Faye Richarson of Oklahoma.  Also cherishing his memory are his granddaughters, Layla, Brittany Carroll and husband Jeff, Harley Lewter, Madisyn Davis and fiance, Braxton Roberson; great granddaughters, Aubrey Carroll and Adi Carroll.

Family and friends will be received to remember Gilbert's life on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, NC and other times at the home.
