Frederick "Papa" Young Earley was born on May 12th, 1938 to Herman and Ruby Earley. He was born and raised on the Chowan River in Harrellsville, NC.
Freddie was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Myrtice, his parents, his siblings: Melvin Earley, Bud Earley, Douglas Earley, Jimmy Earley, Herman Early, and Shirley Jones.
He is survived by his son Randy (Myrtle), daughter Ricki (Jimmy), his grandchildren: Joshua Haley, Iva Earley, Olivia Haley, Thomas Earley, and Jackson Haley, his wonderful sister, Ann Ellis (Sonny), and many very special nieces and nephews.
Freddie made a career being an industrial mechanic. He could fix just about any kind of pump. Working at four different companies, he eventually retired through Perdue Farms Inc.
Freddie was an active member of Galatia Baptist Church for over 60 years. He loved his men's Sunday School class and serving the youth alongside his wife, Myrtice, for several years. The ski trips and travels to Camp Caswell were very special and are still being talked about today. They mentored many youth and led by a Christ-like example.
To Freddie and Myrtice, their love for their family was second only to their love for God. They adored all of their grandchildren, crawling on the floor with them, hiding under furniture for a good game of hide and seek, Bingo, Mother-May-I, Go Fish, Old Maid, and Monopoly more times than we can count. The winner's prize may be a bowl of ice cream or chocolate covered cherries. If Freddie and Myrtice had a super power, their grandchildren would agree it was being Papa and Grandma. They really set the bar high for grandparents.
The family would like to thank the Galatia Community for their care, love, and concern throughout the years. To Ellis Britton, thank you for your faithful, devoted friendship and loyal Sunday lunch partner. To Boogie and Diane Hasty, thank you for the countless meals you provided and for your willingness to check on him for us. To Ben and Donna Wheeler, thank you for taking care of the horses for the last year. To his beloved sister Ann, thank you for carrying him to appointments, as well as to the Ahoskie lunches, where he greatly enjoyed his time with family and friends. He treasured each moment with you.
