Obituary

Earl Thomas Crew, 79 of Rich Square, North Carolina passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. He was born in Jackson, North Carolina in 1942 to the late, Joseph Elmo Crew and Rennie Mae Collier Crew. Mr. Crew served as Postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Roxobel, NC for 49 years. He was an active farmer who took great pride in cultivating land and producing crops. He was a skilled mechanic who repaired all types of machinery and heavy equipment. He was a member of the Rich Square Volunteer Fire Department and served in the North Carolina National Guard. One of his greatest virtues was helping the less fortunate in the area. He silently assisted untold amounts of people across the county and beyond while seeking no recognition or personal reward for himself. He is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Crew; his two stepsons, Jeffery Brad Timberlake, Gilbert Brown Timberlake and families. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 2:00 pm at the Jackson Cemetery with Pastor John Thompson officiating. Mr. Crew will be available for public viewing on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Askew Funeral Service – Jackson Chapel 313 E.
