Dorothy “Dot” Eatmon Vick, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Dot was born on April 6, 1941 to Frank Eatmon and Bonnie Teague Eatmon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 50 years, Tom Vick, and her son-in-law, David Smith.
Born in Halifax County, Dot built a life in Conway, NC with Tom and their three daughters that spanned more than 60 years. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a treasured neighbor, co-worker, and friend. In 2015, she retired after more than 42 years of service to Northampton County Government where she served in various roles, including the county’s Chief Finance Officer for many years. Upon retirement, Dot was presented with the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine award by the NC Governor at that time, Pat McCrory.
She was a longtime member of Conway Methodist Church and Conway Woman’s Club, where she served as treasurer for both and where she built many close friendships over the years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and her dog, Ben.
She is survived by her three daughters, Patsy Vick Lepak and husband, Jerry of Rocky Mount, Kathy Vick of the home, and Tommie Anne Vick Hall and husband, Raymond of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, David Thomas Smith and Reagan Hall; four sisters, Betty Sue Self of Hickory, Velma Eatmon of Tarboro, Frankie Brinkley of Virginia Beach, and Hazel Davis of Menola; sister-in-law Dorothy Brinkley of Portsmouth, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Askew Funeral Services in Jackson, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Conway Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Hill presiding.
Burial will follow in the Town of Woodland Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Alston, Dr. Brent Portz, Dr. Tammy Yu, and Dr. Brian Cabarrus for their compassionate care over the past several years.
Memorial gifts may be made to Conway Methodist Church, Conway Volunteer Fire Department, or to a favorite pet charity of one’s choice.
