Doris Ann Whitby Cooper, 90 passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at home.

She was born on November 15, 1934 to the late Buck Whitby and Lillie Taylor Whitby and was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Freddie Cooper; her siblings, Ray Whitby, Mary Ruth Moss, Lee Shaffer, Connie Porter, Robert Whitby and Susie Hill.

Doris loved putting jig saw puzzles together and playing Skip Bo. In her younger years Doris was very athletic. She played basketball, softball, and loved bowling. She was very sweet and kind to everyone.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Cheryl West (Kerry); her grandson, Dylan West (Jackie); her great-granddaughter, Charlie West; her bonus great-grandchildren, Kevin and Mackenzie; a sister, Martha Lassigg of Dallas TX, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with a service following at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Jason Yeatts officiating.
