Donald "Steve" Stephenson Jenkins of Halifax passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022.

He was born in 1938 in Halifax County to the late, Daniel Jenkins and Bessie Lassiter Jenkins.

Steve proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He served in the Elite group MAAG during the Vietnam War and was a highly decorated veteran. Steve retired after working for thirty-three years with Sprint.

Donald is survived by his wife, Sandra Wright Jenkins, his son; Daniel Wright Jenkins and his wife Kim Jenkins; his four grandchildren; Dustin, Kelsey, Emily and Corey and his wife, Jayme; three great-grandchildren; Dylan, Sawyer and Elizabeth, his niece Linda Jenkins Langley and several other nieces and nephews and special friend, Gene Patterson.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Dennis Joyner officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids.
