Debra "Debbie" (Carter) Edwards was a caring matriarch, mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She left this world peacefully with her loved ones by her side on May 13th, 2023 at the age of 68.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Charles Edward Davis II (Wendy Davis), Christopher Lee Davis, Gregory Edwards (Lisa Edwards), and Shannon (Edwards) Moody (Nelson Moody). She was a beloved Meemaw to Brittany Dunn (Josh Dunn), Timothy Davis, Madison Divers (Paul Divers), Trace Davis, Cullen Davis, Avalee Davis, Daniel Edwards, Nelson Moody, Savannah (Moody) Wise, Courtney (Moody) Jaffeux. She was a great grandmother to Liam, Mila, Easton, Brantley, Evalyn, Ensley, Haven, Harper, Piper, Donald, Sarah, and Cameron. She is survived by her sisters Trudy Currin, Belinda Carter, Denise Carter, and her brother Dennis Carter, along with numerous family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband Harry Lee Edwards, mother Doris (Gray) Carter, father Charles Woodson Carter, and brothers Charles "Butch" Carter, and Rusty Lee Carter.

Debra was born April 6th, 1955 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., she went to Roanoke Rapids High School and would later study at Virginia Peninsula Community College. She would spend her life doing the things she loved cooking, gardening, riding motorcycles, NASCAR, thrift shopping, doing arts and crafts. She adored k-pop music and the Asian culture. She would spend most of her life happily caring for those she loved. She was an avid reader and a lover of windchimes and jewelry. She took pride in her family and all of their accomplishments.

There will be a celebration of life at the Carter Family Home on Sunday, June 4th, 2023 from 2pm to 6pm.
