White
September 8, 1917 – March 31, 2025
Cleo Elizabeth Martin White, 107 of Seaboard, North Carolina passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025.
She was the oldest of eight children born to the late Bealie Jesse Martin and Maybelle Allen Martin. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ivan Buxton White, her grandsons, Kevin Michael, Keith Michael, Bruce Speers, and her siblings, Stanley Martin, Bealie Martin, Bruce Martin, Janet Hill, and Maudie Leigh McClain.
Cleo is survived by her children, Linda W. Moody and Ann W. Gownley (Joseph); her siblings, Jewel Britt and Bobby Martin; great-granddaughters, Priscilla Speers, Hannah Carter (Jonathan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted, loving wife and mother who loved her family. Cleo and her husband, Ivan owned and operated I. B. White Appliance Company and were in business for 40 years serving the Seaboard area and beyond. She was actively involved in her daughters' school activities and was a "grade mother" throughout their school years and was active in the PTA organization. She was always there for her family. Cleo was a Christian woman who lived out her faith in whatever she did. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends and enjoyed meeting people. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and in her flower garden. Cleo and her husband supported their church as well as community activities. They were long time faithful members of Seaboard Methodist Church, serving in many capacities. She was a former teacher and superintendent in the Children's Department and served on the Administrative Board and was the chairperson of several committees, secretary of her Sunday school class and she was active in the Women's Society of Christian Service as well as a member of the choir. She has always been an active citizen of her town and involved in the progress and betterment of the town. When Cleo reached her 100th birthday, the Town of Seaboard passed a resolution that the 8th day of September 2017 (her 100th birthday) would be considered a day of celebration and recognized her for many years of service to the town and its residents. She was named Grand Marshall of the Seaboard Christmas Parade. Cleo was also a long-time member of the Woodman of the World Fraternal Organization. She has been honored by receiving the Fraternal Spirit Award on two different occasions and she served as treasurer for approximately 20 years and later as vice president.

Friends may visit on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 12:45 until 1:45 PM at Seaboard Methodist Church.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM at Seaboard Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Taylor officiating. The burial will follow in Seaboard Cemetery.
