Cheryl Darlene (Jones) Topping, 67, of Gaston, passed away at home on October 1st, 2023. Cheryl was born on May 27, 1956, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Charlie Thomas (TC) Jones and Edna (Clements) Brewer. She lived in Gaston and Roanoke Rapids all of her life. Cheryl spent most of her time as a stay-at-home mom, but also worked at JP Stevens and other service-related jobs but is most recognized for her smile at 2nd Street Lunch and Ralph's BBQ.

In past years, Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her siblings and mother and other family members during gatherings around holidays. She looked up to her sister and had friendships that endured the years. More recently, she was especially fond of getting visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Randy Jones. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Topping III, sister Brenda McElwee; her daughter Vicky (Randy) Lease of Haymarket, VA; her son Victor (VC) Garner Jr of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren Courtney Hunsucker, Heather Johnson, Justin Lease and Kaitlyn Lease and 2 great-grandchildren Declan and Hadleigh; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews that she adored. And a special mention to those that were just as close as family; Debbie Lassiter, Sue Barnes, and Victor and Linda Garner.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on October 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremations in Roanoke Rapids, NC. with the burial taking place following the service at Crestview Memorial Park, Roanoke Rapids, NC.
