Roanoke Rapids- Charles Woodson Carter, 89, died Friday, July 10, 2020, at Vidant North Hospital. Mr. Carter was born, October 17, 1930, in Halifax County, NC, son to the late Zollie Worth and Mary Elizabeth Bishop Carter. He was an exceptional mechanic and was known for his auto body work. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Gray Carter and his son, Charles W. Carter, II. Surviving are his daughters, Trudy Currin, Debra Edwards, Sue Carter, all of Roanoke Rapids and Denise Carter of Yorktown, VA; sons, Dennis Carter and friend Juanita Morgan of Roanoke Rapids and Rusty Lee Carter and wife, Terry, of Chesapeake, VA. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. The family will have a gathering of friends to celebrate Mr. Carter's life at a later date.
