ROANOKE RAPIDS – Carol Whitby Moore, age 85, passed away on January 20, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born October 30, 1935, to the late Harvey and Ethel Whitby in Roanoke Rapids. She was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School where she was an active member of the chorus. After high school, she worked at VEPCO and the ASCS office in Halifax until retirement. She loved traveling and spent time during her retirement exploring our beautiful country and enjoying time at Lake Gaston. Carol was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting her family on holidays and for Sunday dinners. She was a prime example of the unwavering love of a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William Coburn "Coby" Whitby; her son, Greg Moore; and loving husband of 64 years, Gene Moore.
Carol is survived by two sons, Neal Moore and wife, Barbara of Roanoke Rapids; Mike Moore and wife, Robin of Margarettsville, NC; and a daughter-in-law, Leigh Moore of Roanoke Rapids. Carol is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon Moore and wife Kelly, Wyatt Moore, Atalee Moore Jones and husband Mark, Emily Moore, Kenley Moore and great-granddaughter, Cheslee Moore.
A graveside service will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids on Saturday January 23, 2021 at 2pm with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Cedarwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at askewfs.com.
