Alton "Al" Godwin Lane, 68 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020. Alton was born in Halifax County to the late Godwin Thomas Lane and Elma Smith Lane and was preceded in death by his sister Linda Lane Lewis. He loved playing cards with his retired fellows, loved to cook and travel. Alton was a member of First Baptist Church and a 1969 Graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America in troop 144 of Roanoke Rapids and loved scouting as a young man achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout. Alton is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail Draper Lane, his two sons, Robbie Lane and his wife Tammy Brunner of Raleigh, NC, Ryan Lane and his wife, Jan Lane of Monterey California; his grandchildren, Rheannon Lane and Benjamin Lane; his two step-grandchildren, Brittany Cavender and Hillary Moran; great grand daughter, Thea Cavender and his Brother-in-law George Lewis of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020 in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC at 11 am with Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Dathan Hall officiating.
