Alice Faye Barnes Smith, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 surrounded by her family. Faye was born on October 17, 1948 in Currituck County to the late William Edward Barnes, Sr. and Mildred Sawyer Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Wayne Smith, Sr., along with her son, Ernest Matt Smith, and one great grandson.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Larry Wayne Smith, Sr., John Allen Smith (wife April), Johnny Wayne Smith, Jr. (wife Susan), all of Conway, NC, Eddie Wayne Smith (wife Teresa) of Gumberry, NC, and Johnathan Matt Smith (wife Amy) of Margarettsville, NC; brothers, William "Bill" Edwards Barnes, Jr., Raymond "Butch" Barnes, Tommy Casper, David Casper; sisters, Shirley Hoggard, Joyce Barnes Stroud, Edna Casper Cardwell, Frances Casper Tripp, Sandra Casper, Alston, and Cheryl Casper Waters, along with 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Askew Chapel in Jackson.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Creeksville Baptist Church with a committal service to follow at Conway Cemetery, Conway, NC.
